In the last 100 years, what invention had the most impact on your life? Why?
Electricity. It made light and power more accessible to all people. And it superseded gas.
What was your favorite decade? Why?
1950-1960. Because for the first time since 1923 my income exceeded outgoings. My two sons and two daughters had married and I bought and paid for my own home.
What advice would you give to a high school graduate today?
Never spurn learning.
What is the most important lesson you learned in your life?
What leader in the past century impressed you the most? Why?
Mahatma Ghandi, because he taught "passive resistance."
