In the last 100 years, what invention had the most impact on your life? Why?
For me as an oilman, it was the introduction of diamond-headed drill bits. This
innovation was as important as the new fracking technologies of today.
What was your favorite decade? Why?
The years 1930 through 1940 was when I really got to learn the oil and natural gas business -- the geology,
mapping and leasing property as well as buying, selling and refining petroleum.
What advice would you give to a high school graduate today?
Don't stop now. Keep getting educated.
What is the most important lesson you learned in your life?
When matters converged on me in such a way that, thank God, caused me to seek out Jesus Christ as
my Lord and Savior.
What leader in the past century impressed you the most? Why?
No question! Franklin D. Roosevelt impressed me -- and the country and the world -- more than any other.
