In the last 100 years, what invention had the most impact on your life? Why?
TV: You can learn so much about the world (e.g., politics, nature and other cultures).
What was your favorite decade? Why?
The 1950's. My husband came back from the war intact and healthy, and he found us despite all the difficult circumstances. And the 1980's. I was still fit and able to enjoy my grandchildren.
What advice would you give to a high school graduate today?
After all I hear and read, the young people today do not have it easy. So, learn something meaningful, and learn as much as you can.
What is the most important lesson you learned in your life?
To be a hard worker, and to think carefully about how you spend your money.
What leader in the past century impressed you the most? Why?
Politics: Konrad Adenauer - he was a special person. He was already quite old when he became the German Chancellor; Ludwig Erhard, of course, the German "Wirtschaftswunder" (economic miracle). And of course, Albert Schweitzer.
