Express Scripts 100 Over 100 Candidates

The Express Scripts 100 Over 100 will consist of 100 vital centenarians (those 100+ years old) who will give scientists the DNA necessary to help unlock the secrets to health and longevity. The DNA from these “genomic pioneers” will be sequenced by all teams competing in the Archon Genomics X PRIZE presented by Express Scripts. To win the $10 million dollar PRIZE purse each team must rapidly, accurately and economically sequence the genomes of these centenarians in January 2013. Once the competition ends, the genomic information generated from their DNA will be given freely to researchers around the world, presenting an unprecedented opportunity to decode those “rare genes” that protect against disease while providing valuable clues to living longer and healthier lives. The sequenced genomes of the Express Scripts 100 Over 100 may set a new clinical standard, helping physicians better diagnose and treat patients based on their unique genetic profile.
